{"id":1187,"date":"2011-06-08T10:46:21","date_gmt":"2011-06-08T10:46:21","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.enjoyslovakiasoul.com\/?page_id=1187"},"modified":"2011-09-25T19:55:25","modified_gmt":"2011-09-25T19:55:25","slug":"info-tours","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.enjoyslovakiasoul.com\/sk\/special-tours\/info-tours\/","title":{"rendered":"Hiking Tour"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>DAY 1,\u00a0<span style=\"color: #800080;\">Welcome to Bratislava<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Welcome at the airport, transfer to the hotel by personal tour guide who will explain all the details about your trip.<\/p>\n<p>Welcome Dinner &amp; overnight stay in Bratislava.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>DAY 2,\u00a0<span style=\"color: #800080;\">Bratislava, Beckov<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Breakfast at ~8 am followed by meeting with your tour guide at the hotel and start of the tour of Bratislava \u2013 the capital city, visiting attractions such as:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Primate\u2018s Palace \u2013 a\u00a0marvelous Classicist and largest palace in Bratislava where the Treaty of Pressburg was signed in 1805<\/li>\n<li>St. Martin\u2018s Cathedral &#8211; one of the largest gothic constructions in Bratislava where the coronations of 19 rulers took place between 1563-1830,\u00a0 including Austro-Hungarian empress Maria Theresa<\/li>\n<li>Michael\u2018s gate &#8211; the only preserved city gate, ranking among the oldest town buildings<\/li>\n<li>historical narrow streets, squares, Slovak National Theatre and of course the historic Bratislava castle.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>During the tour we will stop for a\u00a0lunch in the city centre.<\/p>\n<p>Transfer to Sulov, about 1,5 hr drive from Strecno will be the next stop where we will take a\u00a0tour of Sulov Rocks, the most interesting part of a much larger mountain range called Str\u00e1\u017eovsk\u00e9 vrchy (Str\u00e1\u017eov, 1213m), which are bounded by the southern part of the Lesser Fatra mountains (L\u00fa\u010dansk\u00e1 Mala Fatra) on the east and the V\u00e1h River on the west and north. The most interesting part of the Sulov Rocks forms the northwest and north rim of the little basin in which the village of S\u00fa\u013eov sits. Thanks to the nature of the local calcareous rocks, a fantastic &#8222;stone forest&#8220; \u2013 made up of countless rock pinnacles and needles has developed here. This place lures both the hiker and the climber.<\/p>\n<p>Another attraction in this area is the Sulov castle, originaly built early in the 15th century. The ruins of the castle completely merge with Sulov rocks, in fact it was built between the rock formations and functioned as a fort from which a\u00a0nearby road could be watched and protected.<\/p>\n<p>Later in the afternoon &#8211; transfer to Beckov (about 1hr drive); tour of the beautiful Beckov castle. It is 16 kilometers south of Trencin at the place where the river Vah (the longest river in Slovakia) finishes its journey through the Trencin&#8217;s valley and enters the lowlands of Dunaj. The castle lies on a steep 30 meters high rock over the village of Beckov. It is one of the oldest castles of former Hungary and Austro-Hungarian Empire.<\/p>\n<p>Dinner &amp; overnight stay in Zilina<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>DAY 3,\u00a0\u00a0<span style=\"color: #800080;\">Strecno, Janosikove Diery<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Breakfast at ~8 am, transfer to Strecno castle (apx. 30mins). The ruins of Strecno Castle tower over the Vah river symbolize the feudal power in Central Povazie. Even though it has been a ruin for three centuries, the architecture that remains documents the development of the medieval fortress from the gothic to the baroque. Although the castle was only established in the middle of the 14th century, the site has been inhabited for much longer \u2013 archaeological discoveries show that the castle hill was already inhabited in the early Bronze Age<\/p>\n<p>Lunch in Strecno, followed by transfer to nearby Terchova to visit Janosikove diery at the Rozsutec natural protected area. These passages and canyons consist of three integrated parts &#8211; Dolne diery (Lower holes), Nove diery (New holes) and Horne diery (The Upper holes).\u00a0 There are more than twenty waterfalls in Janosikove diery. Bizarre and intersting rock formations provide unique enviroment for several animal species and plants.<\/p>\n<p>Tour starts in Terchova, continuing through Dolne diery (Lower holes), under Rozsutec mountain and finishing in Stefanova. The whole trip takes approximately 2hrs.<\/p>\n<p>Dinner &amp; overnight stay in Zuberec<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>DAY 4,\u00a0<span style=\"color: #800080;\">Rohace, <\/span><\/strong><span style=\"color: #800080;\"><strong>Museum of Orava Village, Wellness aquapark Oravice<\/strong><\/span><strong> <\/strong><strong> <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Breakfast at ~8 am followed by a hike to Rohace valley, trail will take you around the Rohace lakes offering magnificent views of the mountain range.<\/p>\n<p>Lunch at a traditional Slovak restaurant, followed by a\u00a0visit to Orava SKANZEN \u2013 Museum of the Orava Village &#8211; an open air museum of folk architecture exhibits, intact rural houses brought from all around the region of Orava and re-assembled in Zuberec. The gardens and fields around the houses show various ancient forms of farming and animal husbandry.<\/p>\n<p>Finish the day of activities by relaxing and enjoying thermal wellness aquapark in nearby Oravice.<\/p>\n<p>Dinner &amp; overnight in Zuberec<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>DAY 5,\u00a0<span style=\"color: #800080;\">High Tatras<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Breakfast at ~8 am, transfer to High Tatras &#8211; a\u00a0dominant and most popular mountain range on the border between Slovakia and Poland. The rugged High Tatras with 17 peaks over 2500 meters high are together with the Southern Carpathians the only mountain ranges with an alpine character in the 1200 km length of the Carpathian Mountains.<\/p>\n<p>Most of High Tatras with all of its highest peaks are situated on the Slovak side of the border with Poland. The highest peak is Gerlachovsk\u00fd \u0161t\u00edt (2,655 m).\u00a0 Many rare and protected animals and plant species are native to the High Tatras which are also home to Eurasian lynx, bears, marten, wolves, fox and others. The area is well known and popular for winter sports. Ski resorts include \u0160trbsk\u00e9 pleso, Star\u00fd Smokovec and Tatransk\u00e1 Lomnica in Slovakia, and Zakopane in Poland. The town of Poprad is the gateway to the High Tatras resorts.<\/p>\n<p>Planned tour include Stary Smokovec area and a\u00a0short walk around Strbske and Popradske pleso (lake).<\/p>\n<p>Transfer to Donovaly, dinner &amp; overnight stay in Donovaly<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>DAY 6,\u00a0<span style=\"color: #800080;\">Donovaly, Bratislava<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Hiking in Donovaly \u2013 apx. 2-3 hour easy hike in Donovaly \u2013 part of Low Tatras National Park. First part of the trip includes a chairlift ride to the summit of\u00a0 \u201cNova Hola\u201d, from there the trail runs along the ridge to \u201cZvolen and Maly Zvolen\u201d peaks.
